Je tiens d’abord à remercier Rolande et George pour m’avoir donner l’opportunité de m’exprimer sur la situation des orphelins de la région de Nippes en Haïti, où se déroule ma mission avec la Minustah pour la prochaine année, (Mission des Nations Unies pour la Stabilisation en Haïti) en utilisant leur page web du bar sportif LUCKY 7.

Lors de ma dernière visite au Canada en octobre dernier, j’ai pu revenir avec suffisamment d’effets scolaires pour les 13 orphelins de Salagnac situé près de la localité de Paillant, dans la commune de Miragoâne. Il s’agit de dons généreux de la COOP d’Embrun, de BUREAU PLUS de Hawksburry, de certains collègues de travail et d’amis proches.

Les orphelins ont grandement apprécié les articles scolaires mais ils sont toujours en manque de livres et d’uniformes d’école.  J’estime que c’est un autre projet que je m’acharne à régler sous peu.

Je suis allée ensuite visiter l’orphelinat de Miragôane où se retrouvent 50 orphelins vivant sous une tente de l’UNICEF, soit dit en passant, détériorée par le temps et les intempéries.  Cette tente comporte insuffisamment de lits pour tous les orphelins, certains d’entre-eux sont obliges de dormir sur le béton.  Des conditions de vie déplorables, une hygiène corporelle inadéquate, reliée à des douches pratiquement inexistentes.

Il y a en ces lieux une maison innachevée pouvant accepter convenablement les orphelins, dont les travaux de construction se sont arrêtés faute de moyens financiers. 

Mon plus grand défi serait de rassembler environ $15,000 US pour achever la construction de cette maison.  Un défi réalisable grâce à votre aide.  Je sais que je ne peux pas améliorer le sort de tous les orphelins d’Haïti mais je pourrais dire que ma mission aura été une réussite si nous apportons un changement radicale à la condition de vie de ces jeunes orphelins de Miragoâne et Salagnac, durement éprouvée par la difficile situation de ce pays en reconstruction.

Good day,

First of all, I would like to thank Rolande and George for providing me with the opportunity to use the LUCKY 7, sport bar Web Site in order to talk about the orphan’s situation in Miragoâne, located in the Nippes Region in Haïti.  This is where my mission will take place with the Minustah (Mission of the United Nations for the Stabilisation in Haïti) for the next following year.

During my visit last October in Canada, I was able to bring back sufficient school material for the 13 children living in the Salagnac Orphanage, located close to the town of Paillant in the vicinity of the community of Miragoâne. Donation provided by Embrun’s COOP, BUREAU PLUS from Hawksburry, some co-workers and close friends.

The school bags and contents were greatly appreciated but they are still in needs of school books and uniforms.  This is another little project I am about to complete.

I went to visit the Orphanage of Miragôane, where 50 children live under a deteriorated UNICEF tent, deteriorated with time and bad weather.  The tent does not have sufficient beds for the orphans and some of them have to sleep on the cement floor.  These life conditions are deplorable such as inadequate corporal hygiene also related to practically inexistent showers.

On site, there is a house in construction which could provide a roof for the orphans.  Unfortunately, without sufficient funds, the construction came to a stop.

My greatest goal now is to gather about $15,000 US in order to complete the construction of that house.  A goal I deem possible with your help.  I know I cannot change the life conditions of all the orphans living in Haiti but at least I could say that my mission would be a success if we may change radically le life conditions of these young orphans living in Miragoâne and Salagnac, orphans that had a rough life in this country in reconstruction itself.
